The Cults of Elemental Evil are a collection of four distinct cults, each dedicated to one of the four elemental princes.
Player-Facing Lore & Activities
- The party has directly engaged with the Cults of Elemental Evil on multiple occasions, often to thwart their destructive plans or to recover powerful artifacts. The cults are known to wield ancient elemental weapons, which can be combined into a weapon strong enough to challenge a god.
The Crushing Wave (Water)
- The party encountered this cult, dedicated to Olhydra, the Princess of Evil Water, in a temple within ancient Tyarrek. They learned of the cult's goal to drown the world and usher in a new age.
- The party defeated the original leader, Gar Shatterkeel, and later his de facto successor, Thulunah Maah, a fey riding a dragon-turtle named Bronzefume.
- The party is in possession of Drown, the cult's sacred weapon, a powerful trident. They thwarted the cult's use of a devastation orb.
- There have been signs of civil war within the ranks of the Crushing Wave.
The Black Earth (Earth)
- The party discovered tunnels created by this cult and learned of their theft of a black onyx pendant. They are dedicated to Ogrémoch, seeking to crush enemies and enslave the world.
- The party confronted and defeated their leader, Marlos Urnrayle, recovering one of the God King's arms from him.
- They encountered a sub-leader, Hellenrae, who led a subfaction of monks. The party initially allied with Hellenrae to revolt against Marlos, and later Hellenrae was entombed in ice by Kerachin.
- Miraj Vizann is known as a worshiper of Ogrémoch and a potential member.
The Eternal Flame (Fire)
- This cult is dedicated to Imix, the Prince of Evil Fire.
- The party directly engaged with this cult during the "para-elemental flush" in the Hells, where they defeated Imix.
- The eternal flame priest they encountered had his spirit broken. Their leaders are known to communicate with Araqiel The Big Man Zoval only through projections.
The Howling Hatred (Air)
- This cult is dedicated to Yan-C-Bin, the Prince of Evil Air.
- The party directly engaged with this cult during the "para-elemental flush" in the Hells, where they defeated Yan-C-Bin.
- The party recovered Windvane from Aerisi, the wind priest, who died in the process. Their leaders are known to communicate with Araqiel The Big Man Zoval only through projections.
