A colossal ancient tree nestled at a mountain spring, where crystal-clear water cascades from its base in all directions. However, this natural beauty is marred by pulsing black vines that coil around the trunk like a necrotic parasite.
Player-Facing Lore & Discoveries
- Located in the wilderness near the Hunting Lodge.
- The sanctuary is housed within a massive tree, but it is currently under attack by a mysterious corruption.
- Thick, pulsing black vines weep a tar-like sap that contaminates the spring water.
- Investigations by Plavi Marana suggest that the vines are acting as a barrier, containing something holy within the tree.
- Brylana identified the corruption as sacrilegious and connected to the Scaleplague—a necrotic force that resists simple magical cleansing.
- Parasitic Pull: Entry into the sanctuary triggers a life-draining effect. Those within the grove must resist the pull or take necrotic damage. Those connected to the darkness (like Credence Wolfehard) are instead empowered by the energy.
- The threshold is guarded by Vine-Touched Cultists, Guard Drakes, and a massive Assassin Vine.
- The Cleansing: The Keepers breached the sanctuary, resolved the Sacrificial Hollow blood puzzle, navigated the ruined scaffolding and residual magic from Rezmir's passage, and defeated the Shadow-Maw at the canopy. They cleansed the corrupted World Tree seed, restoring the desiccated dryad, which resulted in the creation of the Tears of the Forest Weaver (gifted to Benson) and the congealed Fruit of Lassus Latvius (consumed by Credence).
