The Kaern pantheon is made of nine true gods. Some older texts refer to a tenth, but temples to this last deity have long since been lost or forgotten. The pantheon is worshipped as a whole in many of the larger towns and cities across the continents, although the names and mythologies surrounding the gods change between countries. It is largely accepted that gods guide change throughout the world through their worshipers and clerics, but are very limited in the affairs of mortals.
Player-Facing Lore & Recent Events
- The Pantheon: The Nine are the officially recognized gods of the realm. They are known to live in the outer planes, but their influence is felt throughout Kaern.
- The Tenth God (Folg): Older texts refer to a tenth god, Folg, who has long since been forgotten as he takes no active part in the affairs of the world. It is rumored that the Angels of Cirrus are connected to him.
- Ascension: The ranks of The Nine are not static; ascended mortals have been known to replace older gods over time (e.g., Celine replacing Ariana).
- The Party's Encounter: The party was brought before the Deific Council, a circular chamber with 10 chairs, three of which were empty. The present gods were Ba’Hul, Lucifine, Celine, Throng the Allfather, Geminina, Aeva, and Suyome. The party was informed that Gawain was away on a mission and Viche was catatonic after sacrificing his divine power.
