Weapon (maul), legendary (requires attunement)
This intricately detailed maul features the relief of a sun on one side of its head, and a crescent moon on the other. Detailed along the grooves of the shaft are planets, asteroids, and stars. Legends tell of a great barbarian king wielding a maul with the power of cosmos at his back. With it, he slew dragons and amassed a hoard of riches that rivaled even the ancient wyrms. In the end, the cosmos found its balance as his greed attracted an ancient shadow of the abyss, and for once, his good karma ran out.
You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
While attuned to this weapon, you unlock these additional benefits.
Good Karma. Each time you roll a natural 20 on an attack roll with this weapon, you gain one stack of karma (up to a maximum of 10 stacks) and deal an extra d6 force damage for each stack of karma you have. For example, if you currently have 3 stacks of karma, you would deal your normal critical hit damage (double all dice plus your modifier) plus an additional 17 (3d6) force damage. Karma dice damage does not double as part of the critical hit.
Bad Karma. When you roll a natural 1 with this weapon, you take 4d6 force damage for each stack of karma you have, and your karma stacks reset to 0. For example, if you had 4 stacks of karma, you'd take 56 (16d6) psychic damage and your karma stacks would now be 0.
If you unattune to this weapon, its karma stacks reset to 0.
Proficiency with a maul allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
