*The Deep Mire is a cold saltwater swamp roughly 100 miles (160 km) long by 30 miles (48 km) wide along the shore. It is a desolate place full of monsters and few members of the civilized races. The swamp constantly grows over time, swallowing homes and property located close to its boundaries. It is believed that the eastern boundary of the Mire is magically bound to trade route north of Aqaumara, since attempts to reroute the road were futile and only caused the expansion of the swamp. The Mire itself is full of trees, vines, quicksand, and hidden islands, and it is generally covered in fog, making visibility very poor. The bones of fallen creatures were clearly visible throughout the Mire. The water is deep enough that it could be navigated on a flat-bottomed boat, but the dark water and hidden obstructions made that choice dangerous.
Inside the Mire were the flooded ruins of a number of castles and settlements. Many of the castles had strange wards that would either strengthen certain magic or negate it*.6(https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Mere_of_Dead_Men#cite_note-SF-p35-36-6)
- The tunnel from the roadhouse emerges in a spot nearby that’s screened by trees and brush from the camp. As characters approach through the tunnel, any of them with a passive Wisdom ([Perception](https://www.dndbeyond.com/compendium/rules/basic-rules/using-ability-scores#Perception)) score of 10 or higher hears bestial voices ahead, growling and murmuring indistinctly in Draconic. From there, a trail leads into the Mire of Dead Men, where a mix of swamp denizens and cultists of the dragon vie for power at the ruins of Castle Naerytar.

History
- [ ] Benson heard that there is a plant in the swamp that if you come into contact with it and inhale its spores, you will become sick with a near impossible to cure disease that causes branches to come out of your ears and a violent reaction towards water. He heard that one cure might be the honey of a very aggressive bee species that lives in the swamp. In the rumor says that the only way to get the bees honey is to wear a mask that resembles the pattern of the queens. Once they see that, they will leave and allow you to collect honey. You then can use the honey to create the medicine which included other herbs. The mask is currently lost. The plant has 5 pedals that are a very dark purple. The 5 pedals have white tips.
