A mystical essence distilled from the spirits of the departed, serving as the fundamental fuel for the ancient arts of Soul Crafting and Blue Flame manifestations. It is known variously as Anima, Soul Essence, or Soul Favor.
Player-Facing Lore & Discoveries
Overview
Soul Favor is obtained when a practitioner of the Blue Flame (specifically Plavi Marana) performs the appropriate rites for the dead or purifies undead creatures. Instead of the soul being bound to the material plane or dragged into the void, its essence is redeemed and stored—often within a lantern or specialized glass vessel—to be used for powerful magic.
Chronology of Acquisition
- The Evermoors: Plavi released skeletons from an eternal curse; the spirit of an elven maiden was the first to be rescued and absorbed into her blue flame lantern. (+2 rescued souls)
- 'The Siege of Greenest: Despite being unable to save a child during the raid, Plavi performed rites that yielded 2 imperfect souls.
- The Peryton Nest: On the road to Aquamara, Plavi purified the remains of a fallen guard at a mountaintop nest. (+1 rescued soul)
- Castle Naerytar: During the infiltration and subsequent spirit guidance ceremonies for the bullywugs, Plavi collected a significant amount of essence. (+8 soul essence total)
- Dragon's Vigil: In the cleansed temple beneath the monastery, following the defeat of the cursed elemental Scaleplague, Plavi performed mass rites for those turned to stone and later dissolved. This yielded a unique, potent form known as Dragon Touched Soul Favor.
Usage
- Soul Crafting: The essence serves as a primary component for magical crafting endeavors.
- Summoning: By crushing a glass ball charged with Blue Flame, Plavi can expend collected anima to summon manifestations and shades of the flame.
