This journal comprises of most of the Captains logs from the beginning of the voyages of the Autumn Valiance to about 2 years before the death of Dave David Daveson Sr.

The first entries detail the ship and its crew, and general notes about weather and voyages. Later, the entries begin to mention a series of romantic encounters while docked in Aquamara with a woman referred to as the Lady of Thorns. At first they seem skeptical that the occassional daliances will amount to anything, but they do note with surpirse that the woman seems to find her way to him each time he ends up ashore. The last third of the book notes a visit where Dave was surprised with the news the coming birth of the their son Dave. There is a long span after this, which seems to imply that he may have gone on shore leave for a while. Eventually, the journal entries begin talking about how the lady of thorn’s is leaving Dave III with him so that she can deal with a situation she’s been experiencing where her dragon-shaped birthmark has been waking her at night, and that she’s been dreaming of a dragon in a jungle far away. It seems as though this was a point of contention, as a next entry details with frustration that the Dave’s had arrived at Aquamara on a set date they’d agreed upon, but the lady of thorns had never arrived. The last several years of entries talk in frustration about how his efforts to find the lady of thorns have been in vane. He notes with particular frustration the lack of information about dragon kind.
