Deceased oldest daughter of the Despanas, a drow noble house that has fallen in prominence over the years. The title of mother is a name that Maven gave to herself after her death in the flash flood of 1721, after she was assigned to the trading outpost of Mantol-Derith after an embarassing meeting with the drow high council related to her investigation of the elder elemental eye. Being undead, Maven has gathered the souls of other malcontent drow to serve her in the afterlife, finally achieving the control and influence she feels she deserves. She is survived by her mother Illifae and her little sister Riful, who renounced her family name to explore the world.
