A cataclysmic event in 1389 AoM where the clash between the God-King Adin and the Avatar of Folg shattered the blades Encriadine and Ragnarok, breaking the world's magical weave.

Consequences & Plot Hooks

  • Event Date: 21389 AY
  • Cause: The unchecked growth of Magitechnology began consuming the world's mana. Adin forged the sword Encriadine (Blade of Eternal Creation) to solve this, but his hubris challenged the Gods.
  • The Duel: The God of Lightning, Folg, forsook his divinity to become the blade Ragnarok. A champion wielded it against Adin.
  • The Outcome: The clash shattered both blades. The release of divine energy caused worldwide natural disasters and the collapse of high magic, leaving half the world bereft of arcane power.
  • Magi-Radiation: The clash left behind traceable amounts of magi-radiative energy. This residual power occasionally causes "miracles" when it comes into contact with other sources, especially children.
  • The Dusk Watchers: Kylar Blackbeard Stern (Adrian Gwent) founded the Dusk Watchers to study and weaponize these divine residuals. Their "Accelorex" relays and implants are based on technology originally created to dampen the effects of the Sundering.
  • Casualties: Karsten's daughter, the last firekeeper of her temple, perished in the event. Most of the Drannoth race disappeared.
